Why we need Holistic Health Care

In the past years, there has been a continuous rise in health problems - especially for women. In the last 10 years women's hormonal and autoimmune issues have increased by 50%.

Even though medicine is constantly developing and the wellness industry is booming, certain health problems are on a constant rise. Burn out syndrome, heart diseases, inflammation, depression, anxiety, hormonal issues (PCOS, endometriosis, infertility, etc.), autoimmune diseases,...

It is becoming clear that the single approach of modern medicine is not working anymore. Multi factored health struggles need a multi-factored approach to health - Holistic health care.

A "new" approach to health

With this "new" approach to health and wellbeing we actually rely on ancient knowledge. Our ancestors knew about the multilayered quality of human beings. All human beings have multiple layers to them - several bodies. We got a physical body, an energetic body, an emotional body, a mental body and a spiritual body. These bodies or aspects to ourselves are interconnected and work in harmony together. If one is disturbed it influences the others. Therefore every disease has several aspects to it as well. If we only treat the physical symptoms, which modern medicine is built upon, we only suppress the disease until it finds a different outlet - and we have an other symptom, seemingly unrelated to the "already treated" issue.

Holistic health care focuses on all aspects of disease and on its origin rather than it's symptoms. Furthermore it's about health care and prevention rather than disease care and treatment.

3 practices to get started

There are many different ways and traditions that show us different approaches to Holistic Health - such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional European Medicine, Shamanic Practices, Yoga & Ayurveda, Naturopathy, etc.

I want to introduce you to 3 simple techniques that can be incorporated into your daily routine which promote overall health and wellbeing.

  1. Ayurvedic morning potion Mix ginger, turmeric, lemon and honey with hot water. Drink this first thing in the morning before you have breakfast. It will kickstart your morning and boost your immune system. It also reduces inflammation in your body.

  2. Meditate Meditation is shown to significantly reduce to risk of heart diseases, Altzheimers, high blood pressure, diabetes, and many other health issues. A daily meditation practice helps to reduce anxiety, depression, sharpens your mind and gives you clarity and focus. Studies show that meditation - only for 10 min a day - has a significant influence on your overall wellbeing. It's best to meditate after waking up and/or before going to bed.

  3. Move The body stores all our memories, emotions and trauma - this can lead to stagnant energy. Move your body, release old memories and access your bodie's wisdom! Certain movements like shaking or flow-like dancing have particularly beneficial effects on your wellbeing. Shaking of your hips helps to release old emotions and trauma, whereas flow-like movements help you to access new information and connect with your body's voice. Put on one Song you like (preferably instrumental so you can focus on your body, rather than the music) and dance/ move for the whole track. Don't think about how you look or what you should do, just let your body move the way it wants to.
